breed from Puglia, imported to Tuscany. "The Gentile breed
is a crossbreed between local Italian sheep and Spanish merino
sheep. Prof. Iosa remembers that merino sheep started being imported
from Spain during the reigns of Alfonso I of Aragon, of Francesco
I di Borbone and of Gioacchino Murat [...]"
